Home to three of California’s original Ranchos: Rancho Guajome, Rancho Buena Vista, and Agua Hedionda Y los Manos, Vista is indeed one of California’s prolific Historic Communities. The Vista Village Business Association in concert with the City of Vista, strives to maintain and revitalize the Downtown District. Established in 1882 and incorporated in 1963, Vista maintains its quaint charm and beauty primarily through the efforts of individuals and community events.
On August 3-4, 2012 the Vista Village Business Association in conjunction with When Pigs Fly BBQ will host Vista’s Fourth Annual “Smokin’ Q Classic” a California State Championship BBQ competition. The event, to be held in historic Downtown Vista, CA, will welcome Competition BBQ Teams from all over the tri-state area and an attendance expected to exceed several thousand guests.
In addition to a KCBS sanctioned BBQ competition, there will be music, entertainment, live bands, carnival rides, a family festival loaded with games & activities for children, BBQ sampling and much much more. All proceeds from “Smokin Q Classic” will benefit local boys and girls charities in the Vista area and the revitalization of historic downtown Vista.
