Smokin in the Oaks is back for its 4th Annual Event in Penn Valley. This year the venue has changed from the Rodeo to Western Gateway Park for a bigger event area and to host the new concert series. Gateway Park as a stage the same size as the Sleep Train Amphitheater, 2 Kids Play grounds, a swimming area, the number two ranked Disc Golf Course in the state, Bocce Ball Courts and acres of land to run around on. Returning Champs Slap Yo' Daddy will be defending their title against 24 other California BBQ Teams.
Each Year this event gets bigger and bigger. Last year the rain was a big issue, so the date has been moved to late July to insure a nice hot summer day full of barbecue smoke. Saturday the 21st is our main event loaded with a Pro Event and a Kids Q Off. The Pro Event is a KCBS along with a California Association sanctioned event. Teams are competing for point to win the yearly race.The big addition to this years event is our Live Music Series.
We are adding more and more to this event every week. If you got a BBQ Team, sign up and get into this event its the lowest entry fee in Cali BBQ. Plus we are still looking for sponsors and vendors. Check out our page on the California Association of Barbecue site. More info soon to come
