Cycling enthusiasts can the route during the start at the top Lake Tahoe Legends Ride, Saturday, May 14. Explore majority of the first lap of the 2011 Amgen Tour California Stage 1. Its considered the largest cycling event in North America. It’s nearly 800 miles and hits cities in eight days. Last year I was able to see part of the tour in Grass Valley. It went by our house and lasted for about 8 minutes in all but it was a good reason to Barbecue with everyone. This year the tour is not going to hit Grass Valley but will go along Penn Valley. Over two million spectators place themselves at different sections of the race for a chance to see the fastest racers in the world.
This years Legends Ride will have Bobby Julich, John Howard, Max Jones, Mike Neel, David Brink, and Roland Della Santa. The first 1,000 cyclists who sing-up by April 30 will get the chance to ride with the Legends.
Beside the Tour of California events Lake Tahoe has comedy shows featuring Will Durst and Tom Simmions, Live music at Cabo Wabo Cantina Lounge inside Harveys. Plus bike swaps and much more. It’s the perfect time of the year to Visit Tahoe.
